I am seeking an interested buyer for a 1923 Weber (WR) Duo-Art in a
Chinese motif hand-painted case (un-restored), the virtual twin to
the one shown at this link: http://sonnyspianotv.com/new/artcase/891
That instrument is absent the Duo-Art parts, whereas the one to be made
available (price not yet determined) is complete. Most tubing has been
replaced and appears serviceable; however, the pneumatic recovering
appears to have been limited to the wind motor. The soundboard shows
no cracks (crown/down-bearing has not been assessed), bridges are
perfect.
Pin tightness has been judged to be "adequate", however, treble strings
are rusty and several have broken during tuning, portending complete
restringing. Since the bass strings are "tubby", it is probably a
candidate for total restringing, with freshly reamed pin holes and
over-sized pins, if not pin block replacement. The artwork is slightly
uneven in terms of consistent "sheen", and would benefit from a
professional "conservation".
More photos available upon request.
