Recent mention of transcribing piano rolls into sheet music reminded
me that many years ago I had transcribed four rolls. If anyone is
interested I could send PDF copies of my sheet music. They are on
music score paper, approximately 9 inches by 12 inches.
Two of the transcriptions were cleaned up and done in ink so they are
readily playable; the third is in pencil but legible, the fourth is
a first draft in faint pencil but could help if anyone wanted to do a
more thorough job.
The pieces are
(a) "Morning, Noon and Night" by Louis Alter, as played by Victor Arden
on Ampico 214611 and Duo-Art 0939 Good copy in ink. Four pages,
about 417 KB. [ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KFznB7SqJng ]
(b) "Charleston Rag" written and played by Eubie Blake on Ampico 54175
Good copy in ink. Four pages, about 374 KB.
(c) "Chloe" by Kahn and Moret as played by Milne on Ampico 71463 and
Duo-Art 7501 In pencil but fairly legible and playable. Two pages,
about 239 KB.
(d) "Porgy and Bess Selections" by Gershwin as played by Adam Carroll
on Ampico 71833 and Duo-Art 7519; in light pencil and somewhat hard
to read. I had not gotten around to filling in all the rests, but
I think the notes are all there. Nine pages, about 1.1 MB.
I learned the first three but gave up on ever being able to master
Porgy so I never cleaned up the manuscript.
I could send individual pages or each piece as a single zip file. If
anyone is interested please write me and specify which form you want.
