Ampico B Replays Continuously
By Mike Nichols

Ampico B Drawer Fault Diagnosis

Hi all you MMDrs. Does anybody know if there is anything published in
the USA with regards to faults in the Ampico B Drawer and the diagnosis
of those faults, and of course their rectification.

When I purchased my piano about five years or so ago everything worked
with the exception of the Repeat switch. No great problem. A couple
of weeks ago I was under the piano and lo and behold I found a tube
that was disconnected. This tube led to the left hand side of the
drawer so I reconnected it.

Result: good and bad. The repeat now works but on rewind, when only
a single play is required, the mechanism quickly shunts into play
before the end of the roll and starts to replay unless I hold the
switch manually to prevent it.

I have a copy of the 1929 manual and a couple of MMD Archive items but
they do not help as all appears to be as the diagrams say it should be.
Any help greatly appreciated before I take the tube back off and forget
the repeat switch.

Kind regards from old GB,
Mike Nichols
