Structural Differences In Steinway D Players
By Dax King

Greetings, Again I am revisiting the subject of 9'6" Steinway Model D
R Duo-Arts; I'd like to know what other structural differences existed
between them and standard D's. Aside from the lengthened cases, were
there differences in the cross-beams underneath, to accommodate the
mechanism? Were the cases made any wider?

I've been informed that the Randolph Herr "D R" has now been shortened
and transformed and leased to a concert hall. My one hope in returning
this instrument to its rightful glory and purpose is to someday become
wealthy and purchase it, then diligently reverse the damage.
