Having read Larry Doe's post regarding the passing of Warren Trachtman,
I want to fill in another side of Warren that many of you may not know.
In addition to being a technical and engineering genius, for many
years Warren served as CEO of the Northern Virginia Ragtime Society.
When Bill Mastbrook and Dale Hooper were no longer able to continue,
Warren Trachtman, Alex Hassan, and Audrey Van Dyke jumped in to run the
organization, keep it financially solvent, maintain its 501(c)3 status,
and bring in the very top-notch national and international ragtime
pianists for six wonderful concerts each year. See Alex Hassan's
tribute at https://www.facebook.com/northernvirginiaragtimesociety
Always jovial and hospitable, Warren often hosted dinner parties at his
home in Laurel, Maryland, where he and friend and colleague Joe Orens
were restoring a reproducing grand piano.
We have lost a wonderful friend!
