It is a shame that the instruments of the late Randolph Herr have been
treated in such an uncaring way.  It has become obvious to me that the
heirs of the estate did not and do not really care about preserving
those particular specimens of mechanical music.  One statement which
quite upsets me is the one below, by Vincent Morgan [170222 MMDigest]:

This should have _never_ happened, and should never happen again.
Let's watch out and save any more rare instruments, should another
collection like Randolph's be dispersed.
