Horizontal Grooves in Welte T100 Tracker Bar
By John McClelland

[ Ref. 170207 MMDigest, Extra Holes in Ampico B Tracker Bar ]

Greetings all, I have seen at least three tracker bars that had the
groove (depression) cut above and below the main tracker bar hole
array, with six or eight offset holes drilled in each horizontal
groove. They were all on very early Welte Mignon T100 nickel plated
tracker bars. There were no nipples attached to the back of the holes,
hence no applied vacuum. Perhaps they were to catch punchkins and roll
hole dust as the instrument played?

It's an interesting question; one of the European Welte-Meisters might
have a more illuminating explanation.

Cheers,

John McClelland
