Researcher and author Elaine Obenchain, who compiled the well-known
rollography of Ampico piano rolls, passed away on January 2, 2017,
in Woodstock, Illinois, at age 82 years. She was born March 22, 1934,
and grew up in Grand Rapids and East Grand Rapids, Michigan, and
Evanston, Illinois.
Her 1977 book, "The Complete Catalog of Ampico Reproducing Piano
Rolls," published by William H. (Bill) Edgerton, ISBN 0-9601172-1-0,
established the "rollography format" which encompasses much more than
just a list of catalog numbers. Later she wrote and illustrated
a five-volume set of books on McHenry County [Illinois] cemeteries,
which were published by the McHenry County Illinois Genealogical
Society.
