Seek John McTammany Mechanical Music Machines
By Vincent Morgan
I have received the following request from the folks at The History
Channel who want to film a documentary on any John McTammany mechanical
music machines that might be in the US, especially in New York or
Washington, DC, areas.
> I am a producer at a London based production company called Nutopia
> (www.nutopia.com) that specializes in making historical documentaries.
>
> I am currently looking into a historical figure called John McTammany
> (1845-1915) in connection with a major documentary series we are making
> for the History Channel. The Scottish born McTammany is famous for
> being credited as one of the inventors of the player piano (or more
> correctly organette and proto player piano, but this distinction has
> been lost in the mists of time).
>
> I'm trying to find out if there are any McTammany built machines in
> the States (I'm particularly interested in the New York or DC areas
> as we are due to be filming there in early February), and if any owners
> might be willing to let me film their machines...
