Seek Antique Cylinder Musical Box Governor
By David Evans
Does anyone have a spare music box governor they would part with?
I need one for an interesting form of interchangeable cylinder movement
from circa 1890. In an ideal world the governor would be nickel plated
and have a 12-leaf pinion. Measurements are: approximately 2" high to
the top of the endless cock, 2" long, excluding the projecting first
governor wheel, and about 1/2" wide.
The movement has a mounting screw hole through from underneath the
bedplate and threaded into the bottom of the governor. I 'borrowed'
one from another cylinder movement of about the right period and its
pinion meshed perfectly with the cylinder arbor drive gear.
If you have anything somewhere near right I could probably adapt it
to fit, including changing the first pinion if it proved incorrect.
I would prefer not to have to make the whole thing from scratch!
Thank you in case you can help!
Happy New Year,
