Seek Photos of Wurlitzer Piano With Violin Pipes
By Paul Horgan
I recently purchased an early model Wurlitzer Style A piano with violin
pipes. It has the early style A.P.P. long roll frame of sheet metal.
A previous owner disassembled the roll frame to strip the paint off
the sheet metal. I would appreciate the help if somebody has one they
could take photos of. Since mine is now down to bare metal
(disassembled and in a cardboard box), what was the original finish?
[ I saw "battleship gray" paint on an early Pianino sheet metal frame.

Photos of the drive belt pulleys from the gear standard to the roll
frame would help also. There are some non-original hardware store
Vee-belt pulleys substituted in places. It is not a direct shaft drive
like the later models.
The piano once had lamps on the front corner posts, but only the brass
bases are there now. The posts are drilled for wire. Photos of the
proper lamps would be helpful.
There is a sliding clear glass panel with a white ceramic knob that
looks like it belongs on a kitchen cabinet that slides left to access
the roll. The Wurlitzer logo is etched into the glass. Is this
original or a field repair? On either side is a stained glass panel
depicting a white bird perched on a branch with green leaves, and a
carved wood swag or garland below the stained glass.
The serial number on this piano is 14939. It was found in Connecticut.
Thanks in advance for any assistance and photos.
Regards,
Paul Horgan
