This is to advise MMDers that all stocks of the award winning The
Organette book, authored by myself and published by The Musical Box
Society of Great Britain, are now exhausted, although Harold Draper in
USA has one or two copies. However, this is not the end of the story
as, in line with its founding principles, MBSGB continues to foster
research in mechanical music and publishing the results where
appropriate.
Since publishing The Organette Book I have continued to gather data on
organettes manufactured both in USA and Europe with a view to updating
the existing book. I would welcome any information not already
published for future inclusion. Only 5 or 6 additional instruments
have been found during the 14 years since publication but more would
be welcome.
Meanwhile, there are still first-hand copies available of other MBSGB
publications, including the award-winning The Disc Musical Box Book,
The Nicole Factor (by award winning authors Roy Ison, Paul Bellamy
and Arthur Cunliffe) and the Cylinder Musical Box Tune Sheet Book and
its four supplements by the late Anthony Bulleid, and up-dated by
Tim Reed. Signed copies of The Disc Musical Box, discounted for the
month of December, are available in USA from Nancy Fratti,

The MBSGB, founded in 1962, recently incorporated to protect its
members and assets. This is in line with "modern" practice advocated
here in the U.K. for not-for-profit organisations, as is common with
a number of "sister" societies. Members receive four quality journals
a year all of 40+ pages, covering a wide range of topics.
Other benefits include the opportunity to meet and network with other
enthusiasts and technical experts, both in UK and overseas; organised
trips and meetings, and priority access to the A D Cunliffe Register of
Cylinder Musical Boxes, with now approximately 11,400 boxes registered.
If you have an un-registered cylinder musical box do make contact,
often additional information can be supplied to you about your
instrument.
