Passing of John Del Carlo, Opera Singer
By Gloria Schack
Several years ago Ralph wanted to replace the damaged spindles on
top of one our music boxes. Searching the MBSI member directory for
someone with the same kind of music box, Ralph found John Del Carlo
and contacted him about loaning his spindles so Ralph could have them
copied.
John said he was going to be in Los Angeles singing in an opera and he
would bring the spindles to our home. So he came for dinner and the
result was a wonderful friendship. It also happened we had tickets to
the opera in which John was singing and we discovered he was a real
star with a wonderful bass-baritone voice.
About a year ago John told me he had cancer and had to stop performing.
A few months later he stopped answering my email messages.
