The past two listings of For Sale items includes a few gems,
from Oregon to the East Coast, and even Florida. See
http://www.mmdigest.com/ForSaleOnTheInternet.html
In Mesquite, TX, is a 1925 Ampico catalog for $5.
In Enon Valley, PA, for $200 a Kimball Grand, looks about 5'6" or so,
untouched.
A couple of Gulbransens that "still play": one in Titusville, FL, for
$350 with ~30 rolls, upright (no photos); the other is in Ballston Spa,
NY, for $895, including 70 rolls and mandolin rail.
In Orlando, FL, must move, best offer: Bond-Packard with some rolls
and bench. Works; moving, must sell.
In Vancouver, OR, a Cable Euphona for $900, "completely restored inner
workings" including hundreds of rolls including Disney and Christmas.
In Eugene, OR, $995, plain style, but quarter-cut oak upright, "in
excellent condition [including] about 100 rolls. ... It is very heavy
and you will need to come pick it up with helpers." Uh, yeah, most
players are heavy -- free hernia with each move. (Yes, I did get one
moving my Recordo. No, I don't move pianos anymore.)
In Salem, OR, $150, Stanley & Sons, plain case, very light refinished
wood, appears to be Simplex player. "Player needs work."
In Rochester, NY, area, free, upright Irvington, Reprotone Story &
Clark player unit with 13 rolls (hope you're not superstitious).
In Tri-Cities, TN, $100; Story & Clark upright player, no other info.
Case style suggests mid-teens, with bench.
In Galena, KS, no price: Haddorff upright player, light finished,
somewhat ornate case, refinished. "Works great and includes several
music scrolls." Store sale.
In Tonawanda, NY, $2550 (dealer) Wurlitzer very small grand with an
"Apollo" reproducer mechanism, ornate legs and trim, matching bench.
With many rolls.
In Syracuse, NY, $900; Weber-Duo Art 5' 3" grand needing full
restoration, but very ornately-grained beautiful wood case.
Also in Syracuse, NY, $100: Cable & Sons, New York, upright with a
Standard "Artist-Record action - Is specifically constructed to play
any make of reproducing or regular music roll with transposer lever at
normal position", reportedly works.
And lastly, in Pittsburg, $200, a Kimball small grand (5'?) with
(I think) a Welte player; unusual bench, single legs.
Hope you find something you "need." (Need? Need isn't the question!)
