For Sale on the Internet Items
By David Dewey

Gee, I get off-line for a few days and there's a bunch of pianos for
sale out there!

From the 161026 lists:

* Duo-Art Annotated Series roll D-283 "Pavane" p.b. composer Ravel --
Located in British Isles!

* U.S. Music player piano rolls, lot of 23 -- sold.

* 1928 Knabe 5'8" Ampico, working -- In Denver, asking $8000, fully
restored and being sold by a dealer.

* Hallet & Davis grand with Welte Mignon player system -- In Denver,
$1,000 some good detail photos. I'm prejudiced as I have Welte, so
I think it looks good! Original owner of 1940s Hallet parlor or baby
grand piano that has Welte Mignon (expression) player equipment
installed. The player system was restored in the 70's and worked for
decades but the hosing has dried out again so it needs to be repaired
again. We have the schematics for repair. We also have two boxes of
Welte Mignon player rolls which will sell only together with the piano.
Seeking a fan of player pianos to preserve this collectible instrument.
The piano has NOT been tuned in a LONG time, but is in fine condition."
I'd inspect carefully!"

* PianoLa console player piano -- In Denver for $100, short keyboard,
"It is a player piano but just recently stopped working - we think a
hose needs to be reattached." Case looks nice, only one photo!

* Baldwin Manualo player piano (photo shows a Monarch upright??) --
free in Denver, light colored case, shows a new roll in spool box,
"Located in the basement."

* Aeolian console player piano, working -- Templeton (San Luis Obispo),
CA, $100. Typical mid 1970s Standard Action console piano, plain case.
"with seat/bench in good working condition, cosmetically good, needs
good polish - Plays easy to source Piano Rolls (eBay), or you can play
normally - may need tuning after moving. Fitted a new vacuum motor,
and some modern plumbing, uses standard paper music rolls that can
easily and cheaply found on eBay. - Comes with a box of old rolls."

* Ivers & Pond (Boston) player piano -- Waterbury, VT, free! Upright,
probably needs full restoration, many missing ivory heads. "Free,
works and needs to be moved."

* Everard (New York) player piano, functional -- Apparently sold.

* Wurlitzer "Strad" upright player piano -- Also gone.

And submitted for the 161027 MMDigest:

* Andrew Kohler (New York) player piano + rolls -- Sonora, CA, free.
"This piano comes with a huge box of scrolls. It is an Andrew
Kohler/New York. The piano needs tuning and some adjustment on the
player."

* Marshall & Wendell upright player piano -- Phoenix, AZ, $300.
Refinished case, light color, Standard Action, some electrification.
"Good candidate for full restoration. Plays good, needs to be tuned."

* Marshall & Wendell baby grand player piano, circa 1928 -- Oak Grove
(Minneapolis area), make offer. Light finish, double leg, unrestored
Ampico approx. 5' grand.

* Warfield (Milwaukee) player piano and bench -- Minneapolis area,
free, unrestored upright, burl walnut finish.

* Hamilton player piano -- In Debs, MN, free unrestored, Walnut
craftsman style case (unusual front leg treatment)Ivory heads missing.
"needs extensive repairs."

* Schaeffer "Symphonola" 64-inch player piano, restored -- In
Donnellson, IA, $350. Book-matched burl walnut case. The description
is pretty good: "Schaeffer upright grand player piano #61174. Was
purchased restored (cabinet and player piano works) in 1979. This piano
has been in a climate controlled room and played very rarely since.
Keys are all original and perfect. Comes with over 100 piano rolls from
1900-1930 with own storage cabinet and special bench with angled seat
as well. Cabinet is in very good restored condition. 64" wide x 52"
tall x 28" deep." The roll cabinet is pretty nice, too.

* Waltham player piano -- In Des Moines, IA, area, free upright, Golden
Oak, quarter cut heavily crazed finish. Simplex Action, very ornate
tempo & transpose plates.

* Gulbransen upright player piano -- West Alice (Milwaukee area) "All
offers considered" Bookend matched walnut (lotsa walnut pianos this
time!) "been in the family for over 50 years. The keyboard plays very
well and it holds it's tuning exceptionally well."

* 1930s Story & Clark player piano -- Antioch/Fox Lake (Chicago area),
$450. Light mahogany case, Good description: "My family is the original
owner of a Story & Clark mahogany upright player piano (s.n. 108107)
dating back to when my great aunt purchased this new in the depression
(1930's). I had the exterior professionally dismantled and stained
approx. 10 years ago and it has been occupying a prominent place in my
house ever since. The mechanicals work (the supply and take-up scrolls
move when pumped), however, it admittedly does not seem to have enough
air in the bellows system to play any music when a music roll is
installed. I have approx. 15 music scrolls that are included with the
piano."

Submitted for the 161028 MMDigest

6 rolls are Welte/Deluxe! The rest appear to be mostly 1950s QRS.

In great condition." Look to be mostly QRS from the 1950s.

* Lot of 146 player piano rolls -- In Harrison (Cincinnati area), $146

NC. $30 Top has been covered with fabric. This might be a pump organ

Well, that's a bunch of stuff to save, but gee -- there's some neat
stuff in there. What I didn't list was advert for Chico (CA) of 200+
rolls, as they are now at my house! Like I needed more rolls...

There is an upright player with external electric pump for sale here
in Oroville, Calif., for $500, if anyone in this area is interested.
(Heck, for that matter I can sell you a project player for $200;
I have two in storage.)
