As a rebuilder of player pianos of over 50 years, I have to put in
my 2 cents worth about cheap player pianos. There are some cheap
ones out there and I have seen them all.
Granted, the Steinways, Duo-Arts and all the high end players may be
the Cadillacs or Chevys of player pianos, but there's one that may
very well be the Rolls-Royce of players and that one is a well-built,
well-tuned M. Schulz -- yup, the one with hard-to-rebuild tiny
pneumatics. Boy, the repetition is fast! There's not a player out
there that can run with it. I did find one that came close and that
was a Lauter-Humana. Them old M. Schulz players are well built, I do
know that.
Well, that's my opinion; others may think otherwise.
