I have an Aeolian Duo-Art organ console and about 50 Duo-Art rolls,
plus a number of regular Aeolian organ rolls. The organ had one of the
Skinner unit chests with 8 ranks plus a 16' Bourdon on separate chests,
which dates it from late 1920s or early '30s. If I recall correctly,
I looked up the opus number and it was originally installed in a movie
actors home in Los Angeles.
Forty years ago I moved from California. No one was interested in
the complete organ, so I kept the console and rolls and sold everything
else. My plan was _someday_ to buy and restore an old Victorian home
and install an electronic organ (or pipes when I dreamed really big).
I've reached an age where it is time to let some more active collector
take this project in hand. I'm not entirely sure what price to put on
it, but I'm thinking that $3,500 for the console, rolls, and (did I
mention) a spoolbox and some other parts from a Concertola. It's
located in Florida, and that price would be "as is, where is." That
said, there is a freight forwarder here who says he has handled many
musical instruments, but that would be the responsibility of the buyer.
An additional impetus to sell at this point is the near miss we had with
Hurricane Matthew a few weeks ago. By the sheer random nature of the
way these storms go, we did not have any damage, but we could have lost
everything. So I'd like someone else to be responsible for this now.
I'm open to comments and suggestions. I haven't seen much discussion
of these organs on MMD. There was an article a while back and there
are some mentions in the index. So hopefully there is someone out
there who would be interested.
