A lovely musical magician automaton, a Mandarin cup-and-ball magician
automaton clock by J.F. Houdin, and a Lambert-made clown conjurer
automaton are among the featured lots of 19th-century automatons and
mystery clocks in the October 29th auction at Potter & Potter Auctions
in Chicago.
The objects come from the collection of David Baldwin, a prominent
New York businessman who collected magic memorabilia, mystery clocks
and automatons for twenty-five years. The balance of the 372-lot
auction includes rare magic books, posters, and apparatus.
The auction takes place in Potter & Potter's Chicago gallery. Bids
can be placed online at http://www.bidsquare.com/ and other online
bidding platforms.
