Ampico System in Mason & Hamlin Upright

[ Ref. Dave Krall in 16120 MMDigest ]
I was always told (by Harvey Roehl and others) that no Mason and Hamlin Ampico uprights were built. Though I am not familiar with the Mason and Hamlin uprights from American Piano Company's 1920s production (Ampico bought Mason in 1924, I've always heard), this may have been in part due to the presence of sostenuto systems in their uprights creating an engineering incompatibility. (I've seen sostenuto systems in later Mason full-size uprights.)
Or maybe Ampico just figured that the Knabes and Chickerings adequately fulfilled the high-end upright reproducer market? If anyone has the definite answer to this mystery, I'd also like to know.
