Reversible Music Roll
By Rowland Lee

This subject makes me reminisce about the late Reg Best, who was
a well-known collector of player pianos and organs here in the UK
and a stalwart of the Player Piano Group; it is around 30 years now
since he died, in his eighties.

Many in the UK will recall his humorous articles in the PPG bulletin
written under the nom-de-plume of 'Percy Pushup'. At his many PPG
parties he would devise entertainments and one of his favourites was
to re-spool a roll and either play it backwards, or reverse the bass
and treble, the object being to see who could guess the tune first.

Sometimes this worked very well and was very amusing. I recall being
fascinated by some of the harmonic changes.

Greetings from the UK,
Rowland Lee
