Seek Thorens Cylinder Tune Numbers & Names
By Don Caine

I'm seeking historical documentation or listings of the tune names and
tune numbers for any, and all, size(s) of Thorens cylinder mechanisms,
to help with the identification of unknown melodies.

Thorens traditionally stamped, or etched, the tune numbers into the
brass on either end of the cylinder or the large cylinder drive gear.
Each tune was given a different number relative to the size of the
cylinder/comb. For example, "Rock-A-Bye-Baby" is tune number 778 as
a 12-note and number 3062 as an 18-note tune.

On the larger changing movements, the tune number was also painted onto
the bottom of the base plate and/or the back side of the comb's lead
base. (That way cylinders and combs could be sorted into matched sets
for assembly and completed mechanisms could be identified if separated
from their respective tune cards.)

Any tune lists would be helpful, especially prior to 1975, but most
specifically I'm trying to associate tune names and numbers by movement
size. Even if you only have a single movement and can provide the tune
name(s) and numbers, that would be exceedingly helpful too.

Thank you in advance for your time, consideration and assistance.

Most sincerely,
