I have a request for a recording of "Chilkoot Two-Step", Regina
15-1/2-inch disc No. 1550, from a lady who is putting together an
exhibition for the National Park Service in Alaska. Can anyone
who has a copy of this title either record it (video, like YouTube,
or audio only) or loan me the disc to be recorded for her.
Thanks in advance.

[
[ The fact that San Francisco has to-day a band of 100 pieces,
[ which is in size second to but one that ever visited or rendered
[ any numbers in this country, is purely the result of the local
[ enthusiasm. When criticisms were being made to the effect that
[ San Francisco was "jay" in all its particulars and in all its
[ habits, Mr. Roncovieri said: "I will bet any reasonable amount
[ of money that I can pick up in San Francisco a band of 100 pieces
[ -- equal in size to that of the famous Gilmore band -- and produce
[ in this city music such as has not been heard in this city, and
[ prove by the production that it is not in any sense a "jay" town.
[ If it was "jay" at all it would certainly be "jay" in music."

[ [early 1884] A "jay town", it may be explained to the unversed
[ reader, is a community where unappreciative ignorance prevails,
[ and where business is consequently pretty bad.
