Hello Everyone, Sharon Marie and myself would like to ask your help
on identifying a roll. Also if you can give any information on the
instrument that played this roll at Mission Piano Company, or the
company itself, we would appreciate it. Three audio samples have
been uploaded.
When Sharon was a kid living in San Francisco in 1970, there was
a piano store near the corner of 16th & Mission, called the Mission
Piano Company. They had an A-roll nickelodeon near the front door
(my guess it was a Seeburg A or Cremona A). There was a wonderful
10-tune roll with several Mexican songs on it, with brilliant
arrangements. The music was so enchanting that she brought down her
little portable recorder and taped off a few songs. Some she didn't
know the names of, but have heard before.
On occasion you may here bells, those are from the sleigh bells on
the door of the store, not in the instrument. The talking is Sharon
and her Grandmother. Tune 10 is only a partial recording.
1) (Mexican song?)
2) (Mexican song)
3) La Cucaracha
4) Cielito Lindo
5) Over the Waves -- Sobre las Olas
6) unknown
7) unknown
8) unknown
9) unknown
10) waltz
We appreciate any help you can give us in this matter.
Thanks,
Kelly Goodman and Sharon Marie
