Hello -- I am going to start restoring the blower box for my Reproduco
soon and will need to replace a missing cover panel for it. My plan
is to simply make a new one, but I do not know what it is supposed to
look like. My Reproduco is the "mortuary model" that has the piano
vacuum pump externally located, and so this blower box has both a
squirrel cage blower and a vacuum pump located in the same box. (Both
are powered by the same motor.)
Attached are pictures of both sides of this blower box. (Please note
that these pictures are as-found; I have not begun cleaning anything
yet.) Is the missing panel simply a duplicate of the one that is
present, and I just need to copy that one? Or should it be different?
If it is different, a picture of the missing panel would be most
appreciated.
Also, this blower will be mounted in my garage, in the easiest location
to plumb it into the instrument in my living room. The garage can be
dusty, and I have some concerns about the blower drawing in the dust
and blasting it all through the instrument. I would like to prevent
this by installing some furnace filters on the cover panels to keep the
dust out. It would not be difficult to adapt off-the-shelf filters for
this purpose.
If I did put in filters, would it adversely reduce the airflow or cause
any other problems I have not anticipated? Has anyone done anything
like this already? Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you and best regards,
Troy Taylor
