X-Y Laser Cutting Machine To Make Music Rolls
By Ed Chaban
[ Who will pay one hundred dollars for a recut 88-note roll?
[ The price reflects the amount of "shop time" (to pay the mortgage
[ on the laser machine). -- Robbie
Where did the $100 figure come from? Depending on the roll, $100 might
not be that high a price!

[ "The price of goods or services is determined by the price of the
[ alternative," said my economics teacher long ago. If a single copy
[ can't be obtained from a recutter with a laser machine, the only
[ alternative is to purchase six copies (or more) from a firm with
[ either (a) a traveling punch (slow!) or (b) a 100-channel machine
[ such as Play-Rite and Keystone use. In other words, a shop recutting
[ piano rolls will charge about the same price as the competition,
[ regardless of the technology. -- Robbie
