Removing Leaf Springs From Reservoirs
By Luke Myers
This morning I cut off and ripped away all the old cloth from
the reservoirs and exhausters of the original foot pump for my
piano. Let me just say that that old cloth was _no good at all!_
But that's distraction from the main point.
I had read about the dangers of leaf springs being removed from
reservoirs and didn't want to have anything bad happen to me while
removing them. What I did was to use a wide-mouth adjustable
pliers to grip the spring tightly on both sides. I was able to
remove both springs without anything bad happening. By the way,
I did have a good set of eye protection and heavy gloves on, just
in case something bad might happen.
This method of using pliers to remove those springs seemed to work
just fine for me, and appears to me to be the safest.
