Back in 2002 I begin re-cutting original copies of Aeolian Grand
player rolls which play on that instrument as well as on the
Orchestrelles. When I stopped production in 2010, I had issued
eighteen catalogs of at least 25 selections each. The rolls were
shipped world wide.
Soon after the first rolls went out and were played, it was
discovered that Orchestrelles with wooden tracker bars (single valve
instruments) would not repeat because the holes in the paper were too
small. I modified my perforator with larger punches -- the same size
that Aeolian used -- and everyone was happy. By the way, instruments
with brass tracker bars have primaries and will play just about any
roll no matter what the size of hole.
In the middle of my annual spring clean up, I discovered some copies
of rolls in the "H" series (new arrangements primarily by the talented
Hiddo van Os), hence the "H" letter prefix. These "discoveries" were
never offered for sale as I simply forgot to put them in the catalog!
They were originally each offered as two roll sets. "Selections from
My Fair Lady" and "Selections from Sound of Music" had each been
offered as two separate rolls for a total of four rolls. I simply
combined the two rolls from each musical into extended play versions.
They were never offered for sale. Each roll plays for about eight or
nine minutes according to your tempo preferences.
These rolls were recorded and posted on YouTube but I cannot for the
life of me find them. I am sure members of this group _will_ find them
and let me know. These video postings are of the individual two roll
sets.
I have three copies of "Sound of Music" and four copies of "My Fair
Lady" for sale. They are spooled on pin end flanges and the holes in
the paper, as noted above, are the correct size.
The rolls are USD 30.00 each plus shipping. They are offered on a
first-come first-served basis, and so you'll know, I have no plans to
produce any more 58-note rolls. I also have two copies of the Test
Roll for $25.00 each plus shipping. No further rolls of this type have
turned up so this is the last of the lot. Payment via PayPal and use
the friends and family option, please.
