There is plenty of traffic on the Facebook "Player Piano" group.
I would agree that a moderated digest is rather old technology, but
given the lack of anyone stepping up to create a threaded discussion
group, MMD is the best we have. And I don't want to try and steal
anyone's thunder, or discount the decades of hard work done by the
founder of MMD.
Threaded discussion groups allow for common themes to be discussed in
separate forum areas; there could be a "Duo-Art" forum, FAQ articles
discussing common repair issues, etc. A good example of this kind of
discussion group would be the Subaru Outback automotive forum at
http://www.subaruoutback.org/
If anyone wants to discuss with me the potential for putting together
a threaded web forum, please send me email.

[ Andrew, one of the reasons why the MMD has been successful is that
[ there _are_ searchable Archives. There have been at least a half
[ dozen other forums, some very specific to specific niches within
[ this hobby. A few are doing okay but several have died off. I'd
[ like to improve the MMDigest to increase participation rather than
[ have it die off because some other technology seems more welcoming
[ -- until the vendor pulls the plug like Google has threatened to do
[ recently to some of the older forums. -- Jody
