It's easy to look at that data and get very depressed. One could
argue, though, that higher traffic was there in the beginning and it
added to the database of knowledge. Over time we have less to say
that has not been said.
It would be interesting to see the statistics on the number of new
subscribers and the amount of "read" activity that gets done in the
Archives. Younger folk tend to peruse threaded discussion servers
for answers rather than post asking questions immediately.
This also brings me to the whole format for MMDigest. I also
participate in an automotive forum, which uses a traditional threaded
discussion server technology. MMD is different -- I'm not saying it's
better or worse, but it's different. E-mail is not a format some
people are comfortable with. A change to a threaded server would be
costly and time consuming but it might help drive more activity.

[ I've given some thought on how we could thread the articles that
[ are submitted. Robbie is very good about fixing the titles of
[ related articles to match so theading of existing articles could
[ be added. Also, the "Contact form" could be fixed to preserve
[ the title of the article that was being read if the "Contact form"
[ was accessed from an Archive page. Please keep those ideas
[ coming! --Jody
