Bill, I have two Duo-Art test rolls:
1. Test Roll #3 1927, a recut from Frank Adams, was purchased circa
1977. The leader explains (via Frank) that the test roll it was
created to accompany the Duo-Art Audiographic rolls. That test roll
has extensive sepia-toned graphics explaining testing procedures.
Frank Adams states that this roll is the first time the 1927 test
roll was recut.
2. Test Roll DA-1002, also marked #3, is a recut I purchased from
QRS circa 1977 or 1978. The leader states, "See the 1927 Duo-Art
Reproducing Piano Service Manual for illustrations and instructions
referred to on this roll". Compared to the Adams roll, very few
graphics or instructions appear.
I never compared the QRS and Audiographic test rolls by overlaying
the paper to compare perforations -- an interesting future project.
