In a recent MMD Digest, Tom Hutchinson discussed the interest and
adaptability for his roll repair table for larger, coin-piano rolls.
I am a happy owner of one of his 88-note roll repair tables, and
I realized quite early it could be easily adapted for larger
coin-piano rolls. Working with a machinist, we made and adapted two
replacement ends that could handle the roll chucks, spool flanges and
ends for style A and G rolls and Wurlitzer APP and band organ rolls.
These ends are easily changeable from the 88-note ends provided.
Additionally, I add a few books or boards under the table to provide
the needed elevation to handle the larger 10-tune rolls.
For the last several years, I have been using these adapted chucks
to make repairs and adjustments to A, G, Wurlitzer APP 5- and 10-tune
rolls, and Wurlitzer band organ rolls. I am extremely happy with the
adaptability and grateful for this roll repair table that now is able
to work with almost any type of roll I have.
