Scanning 35 mm Photo Slides of Mechanical Music
By Roger Wiegand
I scanned all of my 35 mm slides using a commercial service called
DigMyPics that I was very happy with. The cost was about 35 cents
per slide several years ago; higher resolution is available at higher
cost. Work is done in the USA (there are cheaper services that send
your slides overseas). Color correction is available if you like to
recover faded Kodachrome or Ektachrome (probably have it for Fuji as
well).
It was well worth it to have them available in digital format. Some
photos from the 1979 Great Dorset Steam Fair are posted on my web site,
albeit at much smaller size and resolution than the scanned slides
provided to allow faster loading.
Cheers,
