Hello, Rick Crandall kindly suggested I put word out through you that
I have a 1904 Peerless player piano, Style D, Roth & Engelhardt action,
serial number 34239, that needs a new home.
My great-grandfather bought the Peerless for his Menasha, Wisconsin,
saloon in the early 1900s. It was moved to his Menasha house in about
1916 and has lived most of its life there. My mom, who purchased the
house from her grandmother in 1949, died in July and we must sell her
house this fall. My two siblings and I must find a home for this
beautiful piano. It is quite playable (I can send a video of my sister
playing it) and is in good condition, but does not function as a player
piano.
We have the cradle and 13 rolls, plus some tools and parts. In 1995 my
mom wrote up a history of the piano and a listing of the rolls, which
I can also provide. Our hope is to locate someone with an interest in
either restoration or just owning the piano for the joy of playing it.
It has the richest tones of any upright I have ever heard. A few
photos are available.
Thank you for your assistance with spreading the word to interested
collectors, dealers, or individuals. Anyone with an interest can
contact me directly. Thank you!
