My records show that Play-Rite did recut roll 3143 at some time in the
past, probably in the Ray Siou era. Mike Grant should have a copy, and
I am told by one person that Mike is still perforating Style 125 rolls,
although not the other sizes.
If anybody knows for sure the status of Mike Grant's perforator and his
roll operation, it would be helpful to have the information posted here
and archived.
Supplying a replacement copy for a worn-out roll (and the good ones do
get worn out) would be a useful service. If only the laser perforator
owned by Donald Neilson, Sr., and stored at his American Treasure Tours
museum in Oaks, Pennsylvania, could be made operational, it would be a
boon to the mechanical music field, because it is capable of copying
almost any roll of any hole-spacing. What seems to be keeping the
perforator out of commission is the lack of a person who knows how to
operate it and has the time to do so.
