I, too, am saddened to hear of Ralph Schack's passing. When I moved to
Los Angeles many years ago, Ralph and Gloria warmly opened their home
and shared their collection with me. They hosted many, many meetings,
concerts and other gatherings. Ralph was always generous with time and
information.
Having both grown up in the Chicago area and having moved to Southern
California, we had several things in common including mechanical music.
He loved mechanical music and the people who collected and restored
these machines. I recall he was particularly tickled to have sold a
Mills Violano to Michael Jackson and worked with the folks at the
Solvang Antique Center to get it set up in time for a party that
Jackson was hosting at his ranch.
He brought wisdom and class to MBSI and to the collector community in
Southern California. He will be missed.
Condolences to Gloria and the family.
Sincerely,
Marc J. Sachnoff
