The Cremona J restoration is coming along. The piano stack rebuild was
completed, helped along by much useful information from MMD readers,
and it functions well. Now I am trying to get the xylophone to work.
The xylophone has not worked since the orchestrion came to us in 1995.
It has obviously been worked on before, and the pneumatics look "new".
I rebuilt the valves which had many things wrong. Now, on the bench
test, 3 of the 19 hammers reiterate as intended. The rest do not.
I am unable to determine what is different between the pneumatics that
work and the majority that do not. Should the pneumatics have return
springs built in? (They do not.) What am I missing? Any suggestions
will be welcomed.
