"Mama's Gone, Good-bye" QRS 2699 on YouTube
By Bob Pinsker

Hi, all -- Matthew Schultz asked about a piano roll of "Mamma's Gone
Good-bye" [sic]. Robbie's answer listed the QRS roll of the tune as
played by the composer, then mentions that audio can be found on
YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K3kA9a8IJZQ

Now, that audio is Piron's orchestra's recording of the tune, and you
can hear the band's pianist, Steve J. Lewis, quite clearly. However,
I presume that what is wanted is audio of the roll, which I recorded
(from a recut on the Echoes label) and uploaded this evening to
http://youtu.be/fjEFKG1k978

The really interesting thing is to listen to both the roll and that
band recording -- you can pretty clearly hear that Lewis is doing a
lot of the same things on the roll that he does on the record. It is
really too bad that Lewis made only this one roll, as it's really very,
very good and not too much at all like the 'standard' sort of roll
arrangement of the period.

Best regards,
Bob Pinsker
