9-foot Ampico in Film "Nothing Lasts Forever"
By Gordon Stelter

Where was "Nothing Lasts Forever" filmed? That might offer a clue
as to which piano it was. (I was told that 12 were built in 1922.)
One showed up at an Atlanta piano repair shop in the early 1990's.
I saw it there on its side, gutted, and asked the lone workman what
happened to the player system.

His response was, "Warn't no good, so we threwitouwit," followed by
a laugh. "When? Where?" I anxiously asked. "'Bout twoyeerzago!"
Oh, well...

I was told by another dealer that it had been in a Rockefeller home,
but after researching the Rockefeller historic sites I could find no
confirmation. (But this is the piano that Paul Manganaro still had
for sale fairly recently.)
