There has been a lot of information and interest in American
Fotoplayers and Filmusic Picturolls in the last several posts.
I've been collecting Picturolls and Fotoplayers, as well as
pieces, parts and memorabilia from the Filmusic company, since 1988.
During this time, I've been compiling a chronological listing of the
rolls, which is 7/8ths complete.
I began transferring the list to an Excel spreadsheet in 1998, and
I have added to it sporadically throughout the years, as more titles
and descriptions have come to light. My spreadsheet includes pictures
of the original labels, and information on recuts made over the years,
as well as all of the information made on each of the labels.
I invite anybody with information, pictures or scans, ephemera or
items for sale, to contact me, in an effort to make this rollography
more complete. And I continue to look for Fotoplayer parts, as I have
just begun restoring one of the largest of these marvelous instruments!
What have you?
Best,
Jim Blanco
P.S.: I hope that someone, geographically closer, is doing something to
rescue the Fotoplayer piano, located in San Jose, listed on Craigslist.
It's "free"!
