Dear Samuel and MMD, A good motor repair shop should be able to fit
a solid-state universal start switch to your motor. These eliminate
the mechanical switch altogether. I had a similar problem with the
original motor on my 1913 Seeburg F and was able to fit one of these
devices successfully.
A capacitor may also be necessary depending on the start and run
winding configuration, but that is not a big deal. One place these
switches can be found is http://store.eurtonelectric.com/switches.aspx
Hope this helps,
Larry Emmons
