Tempo of John Arpin "St. Louis Blues"
By Ken Vinen

John Arpin was a dear personal friend of mine who died much too young.
I was at the convention when this roll was unveiled to the public and
it was so well done that I instantly spoke out, "That's John Arpin
playing!"

For Bob Taylor's information, the Tempo marked on the roll is "67".
It was a Front Porch Hand Played Roll 016A, recorded June 10th, 1990,
in Sedalia, Missouri. Ampico expression coded by Robert W. Taylor.
Edited and Produced by Rob DeLand, 1992.

While the Tempo marking of "67" is different from what we are used to,
it is important to at least try playing the roll at that marked Tempo,
to enjoy the full benefit of John Arpin's several styles of his
interpretation of the St. Louis Blues.

Yours in music,
Ken Vinen
