Dean, The centrifugal gadget that threw water on a fine screen and
dispensed with a small blower is no longer made. It was very good
because it was not sensitive to calcium buildup.
This type has been replaced by an efficient small suitcase sized unit
that emits a very fine vapor using six or so ultrasonic piezo electric
crystals and a very quiet fan. The unit cost $2400 at first but now
they are around $1000 or so. They do not need to be fed into your
furnace's duct system.
An evaporate cooler is very effective in maintaining humidity in the
desert. If used, you would need to make sure that the water level is
moderated. I once came home from an AMICA convention only to find that
the power had gone off and when the power came back on the swamp cooler
turned on and ran continuously. I played a lively piano roll and the
ivories flew off a number of the keys!
Good luck with the move. If you would like to see my setup, just email.

[ I believe the now-obsolete centrifugal atomizer was sold by Walton:
