There are an abundance of Wurlitzer 150 roll playing organs, just
counting the 153, there's probably around 70-80. That's more than
all of Wurlitzer's existing 165 roll playing organs combined --
actually, more than twice as much!
Somehow though, there are many more early 165 rolls recut. To put
into perspective, my take on early 165 rolls is 6613 (though nearly
certain from lost 6614) and before, for 150, that's 13102 (at least
one more being 13112) and before. I base this on listening to the
arranging style, which changes drastically after these rolls. Somehow
though, while I quite consistently hear early 165 music played, I
rarely hear early 150.
Why this is isn't because they don't exist, as I'm nearly certain that
most of these exist, and not because people aren't willing to loan
rolls, but because nobody has asked! There's been a large focus on
getting the 'lost' 165 rolls found, but virtually nothing in terms of
150. Really, there's only been a few donors, and there hasn't been
much research in getting any of the others. But, as they say, better
late than never!
There is no record of what rolls exist and what doesn't like with 165
rolls, which probably is part of the problem. Nobody can say, "Ooh!
I have this roll," as it's assumed it already has been found!
Don't assume that your roll collection doesn't have anything unique.
If you have _any_ original Wurlitzer 150 rolls that have numbers from
before 13102, please email me to help get these rolls recut.
