Arranging Music for Fairground & Band Organs
By Glenn Thomas

Gordon Ramsey asks whether the secrets in register usage and style in
arranging Wurlitzer Style 165 band organ rolls has ever been revealed.

To AMICA ( http://www.amica.org ) members, there are no secrets, as
this subject was covered in great detail well beyond Gordon Ramsey's
question in The AMICA Bulletin's recent January - February, 2015
Wurlitzer 165 Band Organ Centennial issue. In this issue, arranger
Mikey Mills, who has studied and charted Wurlitzer's arrangers and
styles through the years, devotes eleven pages to explaining and
graphing exactly what Gordon Ramsey has asked and more!

Further, in the same issue, TJ Fisher, who also studies Wurlitzer band
organ music and cares for the Wurlitzer 165 band organ at Glen Echo
Park, Maryland, writes about 100 Years of Wurlitzer Style 165 Rolls.

But wait, there's even more! The Carousel News and Trader's October,
2012, Annual Band Organ Issue published "The Music and Its Artists"
about Wurlitzer 165 music, and a detailed chart showing all the
registers in different organs playing style 165 music.

In future issues, The AMICA Bulletin will continue to explore more
secrets and styles of band organ and fairground organ arranging, so
Gordon Ramsey should have many resources that will help answer his
question.
