Greetings,
I have an Imperial Player Roll Co. piano roll. The label looks the
same as the one posted at the bottom left of six labels on your
Imperial Player Roll Co. page.
My label has this:
Line 1: Imperial,
Line 2: Hand Played,
Line 3: 57510-.65,
Line 4: Alice, Where Art Thou?,
Line 5: J. Ascher, and
Line 6: Played by Roger Hilliard.
Aside from your web site, I am not finding much information online
about the Imperial Company, J. Ascher, or Roger Hilliard. I have
learned that the song, "Alice, Where Art Thou?" is from 1861, and was
written by Wellington Guernsey and Joseph Ascher. And that this song
was featured in the introduction of the BBC T.V. series Open All Hours.
What do the numbers "5710-.65" indicate? How can I know when this roll
was published? Also, how is the value of a piano roll determined? I
would like to know where I might find more information regarding my
roll, especially as it relates to it's value, as I plan to sell it.
Thank you very much for any information you might have.
