Plastic Spool Flanges for Music Rolls
By Ed Gaida

I have read with interest previous postings [asking] about the
availability of plastic flanges for music rolls. One post indicated
that someone across the pond needed literally "hundreds" of such items.

When I purchased the assets of the Tonnesen's Custom Music Rolls I also
purchased the "tooling" or molds for manufacturing three sizes of music
roll flanges. The small ones are about the same size as the regular
QRS flanges for standard length rolls. Medium flanges would be the
size of the QRS extended play rolls. I also have the tooling for
Ampico "Jumbo" roll flanges.

What I have done for others in the past is put them in touch with the
firm that actually makes the flanges. They are quoted a price for each
piece and I then give permission to use my tooling. No permission,
no product. It is that simple!

I would be willing to cooperate with anyone wanting to have flanges
made. A recent customer lives in England and was coming to the United
States on business. He simply brought some empty cases with him and
carried them home that way. The flanges were made and all arrangements
were between the him and the manufacturer. I simply sent an email
giving permission to use my tooling. There was no mark-up built into
the price for me -- that's too much of a problem, as far as I am
concerned.

If someone out there wants to have a large number of flanges made and
then act as a reseller, be my guest. The more of the product ordered,
the less expensive they are. The freight will cost a lot because 1,000
pieces per carton has considerable weight. Economically speaking, any
order for less than 500 pair (1,000) pieces would not be very cost
effective.

Please wait until after the 5th of January 2015 to send your questions
or needs. I will be unavailable until then.
