Seek Music Rolls For Angelus Piano Player
By Larry Norman

[ Ref Rick Wilkin's message in MMDigest 141122

Dear Rick and MMD,

Thanks for asking questions in the MMD. In the 141114 MMD you asked
where you might find rolls for your Wilcox and White Angelus player
piano. It looks like with everything going on in the world that people
might have forgotten to answer your question.

In order to help, that leads to my question: Which Wilcox white player
piano do you have?

Wilcox and White produced a 65 note pin end player piano and rolls for
these are difficult to find. I have one ragtime tune, but it is not for
sale as I play it on my Steinway, Aeolian 65/88 player piano even though
the pins are on opposite ends. So not all 65 note rolls will play on
the Angelus player piano either.

They also produced an 88 note player piano which would use standard 88
note rolls of any type, including those made today. Some of the Wilcox
and White player pianos also had the theme ports which would play the
themodist rolls. Rolls for this version are pretty easy to find.

Lastly the Wilcox white also produced their own reproducing piano called
the Artrio Angelus which played those rolls and they are also hard to
find.

They also produced the Angelus Orchestral push up player piano that also
had reeds for violin and flute organ effects. But I doubt that you have
one of these?

So Which Wilcox and White Angelus player do you have? Send some close
up photos of the spool box and tracker bar. Or simply count the number
of playing note holes. Some players, may have the sustaining
hole,(which would be a large hole on the far left side) the theme ports
(which would be long narrow slotted holes, one on each end).

So, answer these questions and some of us can help you out.

Musically,
Larry from Beautiful Smith Mountain Lake, where it is cold and a few
snow flurries, but not like Buffalo! Monday it should be in the 60's
and I may even take a spin on the lake with my boat.
