I acquired the "O" roll frame brand new from Frank Adams in 1982,
originally a PPCo unit. I had trouble with the speed, such that when
it was first played from "overnight cold", the tempo was fairly fast
at a slower setting. It took around two tunes to be played before it
warmed up and settled down to the correct potentiometer setting.
I contacted PPCo and they sent me a new potentiometer, but the fault
was still there.
This was not a good situation in that showing my friends for the first
time playing my Orchestrion, the roll would race away! Later if I knew
that someone was going to visit, I warmed up the unit. For quite some
time now the speed control works fine when cold. I guess the 'bugs'
took-off for new 'stomping grounds !
I suggest you change the capacitor which I did not myself at the time.
This could be where the fault lies.
