Following on from TJ Fisher's remarks the other day, maybe there's
a way of engaging people in the subject by pointing out that the
'programming' of the tunes on these instruments is the fore-runner of
the binary system.  They might take more notice or interest if they
realised there was a connection, or comparison, between mechanical
musical instruments and the modern apparatus they are more familiar
with.
