FS: Dynavoice Keytop Player, in Pieces
By Lee Rothrock

For sale: Dynavoice keytop piano player, in pieces. This keytop player
has been poorly treated including being dropped by UPS during shipment
when it was not well packed. Here's what I've done so far. As an
experienced repair person I made drawings of components during
disassembly, which wire goes where, et cetera, and numbered the tubing.

The main problem was the fact that someone had tried to seal leaky
connections where the tubing connects with the plungers and, being a
vacuum system, the sealant dope got sucked inside. So we took them all
apart and made them work with the help of a few MMDers who had some
spare plungers they were willing to part with (TNX!).

I did not like the fact that the Dynavoice sits on the end keys
and made plans for it to sit on the flat spot on either side of the
keyboard with a pair of aluminum angle pieces. There are some aluminum
castings which are the structural pieces which have broken, so they
need to be dealt with.

So what needs to be done now is the repair or replacement of the
structural castings and reassembly. None of the castings is under a
great deal of stress in this device -- we're not holding up a lot of
weight nor holding other components which are under stress, some of
them can likely be glued back together. I think that if you can find
the right neoprene tubing to connect the tubing from the tracker bar to
the key plungers no adhesive or sealant is necessary at this point.

The motors and motor controls seem to be working properly. I've always
had a tendency to have more projects on hand than I could properly
attend to. Now we're trying to realistically figure out which ones we
have time to deal with and get out from under the others.

If there turns out to be someone who can pick it up locally in
Springfield, Oregon, that would be most interesting to me because I'd
also like to get out of the chore of packing it up. Asking price is $50.

I once had someone ask me to deliver something I was selling to a local
packing-and-shipping place but he had a friend of his in my neighborhood
pick it up instead. If you are interested please email me and I can
show you photos.
